Blackra1n is the only jailbreak tool for 3.1.2 currently. Since I’m an iPhone adventurous person, not giving it a shot will make my hands itchy. But anyway, it is very frustrating that Blackra1n kept failing and stuck at “running”. Have tried everything from turning off the iphone to jailbreak, closing all itunes processes to pressing home + start button while “make it rain”. but still no clue at all.
I have almost gave up and leave my currently updated 3.1.2 iPhone as jailed. But when doing final googling, I found this. Don’t know this will work on other device other than iPhone 3G, but logically it will.
Do check if you have qtcf.dll in your C: / Windows/System32/. If you don’t, you can get it from here. Follow the instruction in the page to copy and install it.
Then after that, do these steps:
- Disconnect your iPhone from PC USB drive.
- Run blackra1n.
- Shoot “Make It Rain”
- Connect the iPhone when it asked.
Note: If blackra1n hangs at “running” , open Task Mananger, end iTunes and iTunesHelper.exe processes.
